As an Account Manager at Direct Linx, Karan Sedani is helping drive the growth of the Canadian transportation company across North America while overseeing complex logistics projects for major clients. Most recently, he played a key role in securing and leading transportation logistics work supporting FIFA World Cup 2026 events in Toronto, an achievement that reflects both his professional journey since graduating from St. Lawrence College's Supply Chain Management (SCM) program and the rapid growth of Direct Linx.
Q. When you graduated from SLC in 2019, could you have imagined where your career would be today? What have been some of the biggest milestones along the way?
A. When I graduated from the SCM program, I knew I wanted to build a career in transportation and logistics, but I couldn't have predicted where that path would lead. I never imagined that a few years later I would be helping grow a transportation company, developing business across North America, and leading logistics projects connected to one of the world's largest sporting events.
Q. You were hired immediately after graduation and quickly moved into increasingly senior roles. What aspects of the program best prepared you for success in the transportation and logistics industry?
A. My career began immediately after graduation, and from day one I focused on learning as much as possible. I was fortunate to work under the mentorship of Chris Anderson, a fellow SCM graduate, who taught me both the technical side of transportation and the importance of relationships, customer service, and continuous learning.
One of the program's greatest strengths is its broad approach to the supply chain. We gained exposure to logistics, procurement, transportation, inventory management, and business operations, while also developing critical skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. The program's practical, real-world focus gave me the confidence to contribute from my first day on the job and provided a strong foundation for long-term career growth.
Q. Since joining Direct Linx, you've helped grow the company significantly, including expanding services into the United States. What challenges and opportunities have come with helping lead that growth?
A. At Direct Linx, I've had the opportunity to help expand our transportation services, develop new customer relationships, and support the company's continued growth. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been building long-term partnerships by understanding customers' challenges and delivering reliable logistics solutions.
As we've grown, we've expanded our cross-border capabilities throughout the United States. With that growth comes new challenges—from earning customer trust and developing new business to ensuring we consistently deliver the level of service our customers expect. Seeing those efforts result in lasting partnerships has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Q. You recently secured a logistics services contract related to FIFA—an exciting achievement. What does this opportunity mean for you and your team, and what does it say about the growth of the company?
A. One milestone I'm especially proud of is helping secure and lead logistics work supporting the FIFA World Cup 2026™ in Toronto. Projects of this scale require a tremendous team effort across every part of the organization—from operations and dispatch to our drivers, who play a critical role in delivering success.
Being trusted with work tied to an event of this magnitude demonstrates what can be achieved through persistence, strong relationships, and a commitment to excellence. It also reflects how far Direct Linx has grown and the confidence that major organizations place in our team.
Q. You've remained connected to SLC as a guest speaker and supporter of current students and graduates. What advice would you give today's SCM students who hope to build successful careers in this field?
A. Staying connected to SLC is important to me. Returning as a guest speaker and serving on the Program Advisory Committee has allowed me to give back to the program that helped launch my career. It's rewarding to share my experiences with students and help them prepare for the opportunities ahead.
My advice is simple: stay curious, keep learning, and don't be afraid to start at the ground level. Every role teaches you something valuable. Build strong relationships, ask questions, seek out challenges, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. Technical knowledge is important, but your attitude, work ethic, and ability to earn trust will often determine how far your career can go.
I'm grateful to St. Lawrence College for providing the foundation that continues to support my career today. The education, experiences, and connections I gained had a lasting impact, and I'm excited to see where the next chapter leads.
