Recognizing Outstanding Alumni

Celebrating and honouring the contributions and successes of outstanding SLC alumni.

Awards and Recognition

St. Lawrence College provides a number of opportunities to recognize the success of our graduates, such as the Premier's Awards and Honorary Diplomas.

Premier's Awards

The Premier's Awards are an annual provincial awards program created by the government to acknowledge the important economic and social contribution college graduates make to Ontario. Awards are given to a person that has experienced tremendous success in their field and contribute to their community. Colleges may nominate one graduate in each of the following categories:

  1. Apprenticeship
  2. Business
  3. Community Services
  4. Creative Arts and Design
  5. Health Sciences
  6. Recent Graduate
  7. Technology

The Alumni Office of St. Lawrence College welcomes suggestions for nominations at any time; however, the deadline for each particular year is March 1. Nominations should include a cover letter by the person making the nomination including the nominee's program and year of graduation, as well as a copy of the nominee's resume or CV, and copies of any relevant media clippings or awards. All suggestions will be reviewed by an internal selection committee and the College will forward one official nomination for each category to the Premier's Office. Official College nominees will be invited to attend the annual Premier's Awards Dinner and will receive a framed certificate signed by the Premier of Ontario.

Honorary Diplomas

To recognize the outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations, St. Lawrence College grants Honorary Diplomas. The achievements of Honorary Diploma recipients are of such excellence as to provide an example, inspiration, and leadership to all graduates of St. Lawrence College. Honorary Diplomas are open, but not restricted to, members of the alumni community. Nomination forms are available through the Alumni Office. Nominations are welcome at any time. Honorary Diploma recipients are presented with their diplomas and given an opportunity to address the graduates, at spring convocation ceremonies.
