We’re excited to welcome you to the SLC community! Whether you’re starting college for the first time or returning for a new program, we’re here to help you feel prepared, connected, and confident before classes begin.

Starting college comes with important information, deadlines, and tasks. To support your transition, we’ve created a step-by-step onboarding experience to guide you through everything you need before your first semester.

New Student checklist: Everything you need to do before your first semester

All new students are expected to complete the New Student Checklist: Everything You Need to Do Before Your First Semester on UR SLC, our official student engagement platform.

Your checklist may include:

• Student Success Checklist – Set up accounts, complete your profile, request your Student ID card, and learn key systems
• Academic Essentials Checklist – Learn about Blackboard, textbooks, and academic supports
• Campus Life Essentials Checklist – Explore student services, wellness supports, transportation, food options, and more
• Orientation Day Checklist – Prepare for your official welcome to SLC
• International Student Requirements (International Students only) – Complete mandatory forms and transition resources
• Online Learning Checklist (Online Students only) – Access courses, orientation info, and virtual learning tools

Completing your checklist ensures you’re prepared for a successful start at SLC and helps you avoid missing important information.

Accessing Your Checklist

Your New Student Checklist becomes available approximately one month before your semester begins.

1. Visit UR SLC
2. Log in using your slc.me username and password
3. Open New Student Checklist: Everything You Need to Do Before Your First Semester (available approx.1 month before semester start)

Please note: Personal email accounts cannot be used to access UR SLC.

SAVE THE DATE: Orientation Day

Orientation Day is your official welcome to St. Lawrence College and an important part of your transition to college life.

Students are automatically registered for Orientation Day, and additional details will be shared closer to the event.

2026–2027 Orientation Day Dates

• Fall Semester (September start) - Tuesday, September 8, 2026
• Winter Semester (January start) - Monday, January 11, 2027
• Spring Semester (May start) - Monday, May 10, 2027

During Orientation Day, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Meet faculty, staff, and fellow students
• Learn about important college services and resources
• Enjoy a free lunch & Orientation T-shirt
• Explore your campus and classrooms
• Receive key information to help you succeed
• Participate in activities designed to help you connect with the SLC community

Some programs may offer alternative orientation formats. Watch your SLC email for details specific to your program.

What is uRSLC?

UR SLC is St. Lawrence College’s official student engagement platform and your hub for everything outside the classroom.

On UR SLC, you can:

IMPORTANT EMAIL INFORMATION

Before Classes Begin

Make sure your personal email address is up to date on OntarioColleges.ca so you don’t miss important pre-semester updates.

Once You Become an SLC Student

Your official SLC email account is available through Outlook in slc.me. After Orientation Day, all official communication from SLC will be sent to your SLC student email. We recommend checking it regularly and enabling notifications.
