St. Lawrence College to host provincial golf championship

St. Lawrence College (SLC) will be hosting the Belairdirect Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's and Women's Golf Provincial Championship at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club in Kingston from September 29 to October 2, 2019. 

The tournament will bring more than 70 golfers to Kingston, representing Confederation, Durham, Fanshawe, Fleming, Georgian, Humber, Lakehead-Orillia, Mohawk, Niagara, Sault, St. Clair, and St. Lawrence College.

SLC’s teams are:

Men’s Team

Peter Beneteau (returning)

Mike Beneteau (brother of Peter)

Jamaal Moussaoui (returning)

Trent Snider (returning)

Adam Dowdall

Bryson McCulloch

Women’s Team

Jennifer Mortimore (returning)

SLC has an impressive record going into the championship:

  • SLC’s golf team just finished first overall at a tournament at Niagara College where two golfers were named the best overall, Peter Beneteau and Jamaal Moussaoui.  
  • The SLC Men’s Golf team won bronze at the OCAA Championships last fall in Komoka, ON, with Peter Beneteau tied for fourth on the individual men’s leaderboard, just one stroke away from medalling. Jamaal Moussaoui finished 13th overall, while Trent Snider and Shawn Oliver finished tied in 15th place overall.  
  • At nationals in Medicine Hat, Alberta, the team finished sixth overall in the country with Beneteau placing eighth overall in men’s individual and Moussaoui finishing tied for 11th.
  • The SLC Men’s Golf team recently competed at the 2019 Bert Kea Invitational hosted by Queen’s University at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. SLC finished first overall, winning the tournament that included teams from Queen’s, Ottawa, Guelph, Brock, and other high-ranking universities.
