St. Lawrence College (SLC) is pleased to announce the expansion of learning options for students with the opening of two state-of-the-art flexible learning classrooms. Beginning in fall 2026, students will have access to new spaces at both the Kingston and Cornwall campus.

These purpose-built classrooms represent SLC's commitment to expanding programs and course delivery options to include online, hybrid, and accelerated program completion pathways based on student preferences, according to Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO.

"These flexible learning classrooms will provide more options for teaching and learning at SLC," Vollebregt said. "By removing traditional barriers to education and offering multiple modes of engagement, these specialized classrooms provide another way for students to access the education they need for the career they’re working toward."

The flexible learning classrooms are designed to support active, inclusive, and adaptable teaching and learning approaches through these key features:
Flexibility: Mobile desks with wheels allow for easy room reconfiguration, while extensive whiteboard coverage throughout the space supports collaborative group work.

Built-in Accessibility: Designed in alignment with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the classrooms reduce physical, sensory, and participation barriers allowing access to course content in multiple ways.

Inclusive Participation: High-quality audio, video, and content-sharing technology ensures equitable participation for all students, whether attending on-campus or remote.

Cross-Campus Delivery:
The Kingston and Cornwall flexible learning classrooms can be connected, enabling a single class to be delivered simultaneously across both campuses to support shared instruction and collaboration.

Media are invited to experience the new spaces on:

Wednesday, March 4, 1:30 pm-2:30 pm (with technology demonstrations and remarks)
Kingston campus: room number 33140
Cornwall campus: room A3042
