Twelve SLC School of Nursing members, including faculty and leadership attended the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Biennial Nursing Education Conference, May 31 to June 2, 2026, with eight contributing presentations alongside peers from across Canada and globally.

Held under the theme, Rising to Responsibility: Educating the Nurses for the Future, the conference brought together nurse educators, researchers, and students to share innovative approaches shaping nursing education.

SLC faculty and leadership presentations reflected the depth and diversity of scholarship required to support program accreditation and advance teaching excellence. Topics ranged from SLC’s Northern Nursing elective, developed in partnership with Indigenous communities to support culturally safe, relationship-centred care, to innovative intraprofessional education models integrating Practical Nursing and BScN students in shared learning environments.

The School of Nursing’s participation at the conference reflects SLC’s ongoing commitment to scholarship, innovation, and leadership in nursing education, ensuring students are prepared to meet the complex needs of today’s healthcare system.
