In December, Project Management faculty members Deanna Davies and Saima Naqvi proudly represented St. Lawrence College at the Thrive 2025 Conference, hosted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Ottawa Valley Outaouais. Both were selected to present under the conference’s Inspire and Transform speaker theme—a testament to their expertise and leadership in the field of project management.
Deanna led an engaging and interactive workshop, Embodied Leadership – Navigating the Storm: The Power of Collaboration and Partnerships in Resilient Project Management. Her session explored how embodied leadership practices and strong partnerships can help teams navigate change and uncertainty while driving project success.
Saima delivered a dynamic presentation titled Cinematic Wisdom: Hollywood’s Take on Project Management, offering a creative and insightful look at core project management principles through the lens of popular film. Her session sparked discussion and brought a fresh, accessible perspective to professional practice.
Both presentations captivated attendees, highlighting Deanna and Saima’s depth of knowledge, passion for teaching, and commitment to strengthening communities through effective and innovative project management.
Their impact was further recognized when both Deanna and Saima were inducted into the PMI Ottawa Valley Outaouais Hall of Fame, receiving the prestigious PMI Hall of Fame Award. Adding a meaningful personal moment to the celebration, recent SLC graduate and emerging project management professional Morgan Davies had the honour of pinning the Hall of Fame award on her mother, Deanna.
Reflecting on her journey, Deanna shared:
“Six years ago, Shelley Aylesworth‑Spink provided me with the opportunity to coordinate and lead the Project Management program at SLC—a role that shaped my path of passion and dedication to the discipline. Teaching alongside so many talented industry professionals and active PMI members has been such a joy.”
Congratulations to Deanna Davies and Saima Naqvi on this outstanding professional achievement and well‑deserved recognition!
