Duties

Part-Time Professors – School of Business

St. Lawrence College is seeking experienced and motivated professionals who share St. Lawrence College’s vision to be a globally recognized college, delivering innovative learning opportunities and preparing career-ready graduates to be leaders in their field. 

St. Lawrence College requires part-time professors to teach courses in the Business Analytics Graduate Certificate and Project Management Graduate certificate programs in the School of Business on the Kingston campus.  

The College invites applications from qualified individuals for part-time teaching positions for the Summer/Fall 2020 term.  An inventory of candidates interested in teaching courses will be created and retained for a period of one year. The College has a need to create an inventory of interested candidates for the following courses:

COMP5003 Business Intelligence Applications
ADMN5017 Business & Technical Requirements, Analysis, Documentation and Presentation
ADMN5015 Project Based Learning-Artificial Intelligence in Marketing
ADMN5019 Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneurship and Innovation
ADMN5020 UX (User Experience) Design Process and Technology



Please note that courses are scheduled any time from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 8:30 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The responsibilities of SLC Professors include, but are not limited to:

Creating a positive learning environment that accommodate students’ diverse culture and educational backgrounds, experience and individual learning preferences;
Effectively use educational and advanced technologies, and digital learning methodologies to enhance the student learning experience;
Developing curriculum that is appropriately designed and uses evidence-based tools and strategies to support and assess student learning;
Utilize principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant with a lens on the future;
Working effectively with learners, colleagues, program and interdisciplinary teams as well as internal and external stakeholders;
Effectively use the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to build a contemporary and evidenced based practice.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / DESIGNATION:

  1. Master’s degree in business or related field. Consideration will also be given to candidates possessing other relevant degrees with a strong statistics/information science or project management background.
  2. A minimum of three years of recent experience in a senior role related to the discipline.
  3. Formal training in instructional techniques and interculturally competent curriculum design and evidence of student engagement at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  4. Teaching experience using Blackboard or other learning management systems is preferred.
  5. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with demonstrated proficiency and practice using principles of andragogy is preferred.
  6. A global mindset and a demonstrated practice supporting a diversity of learners.
  7. Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is preferred.
  8. A proven track record of life-long learning.
  9. A demonstrated commitment to putting “students’ first is preferred”.
  10. An understanding of the Ontario college system is preferred.

Candidates seeking faculty positions with the College will be required to design, facilitate and assess learning in accordance with adult learning principles and universal design in learning (UDL). Prior post-secondary teaching experience or experience in adult instructions techniques, and curriculum design experience will be preferred. An ongoing commitment to professional learning is required. Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide a teaching demonstration. Details will be provided when interviews are scheduled.



Salary and Terms

Closing Date: April 30, 2020 for immediate consideration (4:00 p.m.), and on an ongoing basis for inventory considerations.  The closing date to be added to the inventory for the School of Business for part-time teaching positions will be June 30, 2020.

Start Date: Summer 2020 and Fall 2020

Reporting To:  Associate Dean, School of Business

Salary and Terms: Hourly Salary Range will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
