Job Title: Wind Turbine Technical Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to Department Manager, and under the guidance of the designate, the student incumbent works up to 12-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends) providing assistance in greeting and guiding customers and performing limited administrative related tasks to gain work experience while supporting the operations of the department. The successful incumbent demonstrates strong customer-service, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills, combined with an ability to work under pressure, and problem-solve while working independently.
This position will work with the Wind Turbine Technician program team to prepare new and existing labs for the current academic year, establish inventory for the program and assist program team as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing Labs including proper disposal of all hazardous and non-hazardous agents
- Building Sensor Control Stations for Labs
- Re-wire and install DC ammeters in Motor Lab Benches
- Testing AC/DC motors and generators connected to various motor control circuits
- Create, verify and update inventory of WT shop 02720 and hydraulic shop 02710
- Assembling new equipment and installing it in new Wind Turbine Lab
- Disassembling, cleaning and painting used Wind Turbines and other equipment in Wind Turbine lab
- Preparing lists, of various nature, in an easy-to-follow format (inventory, purchasing, etc.)
- On occasion may be asked to perform other duties as assigned, such as special functions (i.e., orientation, open house, awards dinners, etc.)
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of first year of the Wind Turbine Technician or Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician Program. (Or equivalent)
Other Required Qualifications:
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, and collaboratively with a team.
- Understanding of, and ability to demonstrate, the principles of confidentiality.
- Understanding of standard computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
- High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Start Rate: $17.20/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
- Hours per week: 12

Terms of Employment:
- Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
