Student Access Lab Monitor

Job Description

To better serve the students of the School of Applied Science and Computing by monitoring labs and the tech shop located in the Blue Wing.   

Key Duties

  • Assist student users by responding to general queries
  • Ensure adherence to established practices and procedures
  • Enforce lab/classroom protocol
  • Process student print jobs on printer
  • Clear labs at closing time: ensure equipment shut down, labs are left in a orderly state, labs are locked up
  • Maintain printers; (paper, cartridges) scanners; projectors, resolve problems or refer for technical expertise
  • Report hardware, system or software problems to the Lab Technicians/Technologists
  • Review Tech Shop inventory records for accuracy
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Skills required

  • General knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals is necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal communication)
  • Demonstrated work ethics
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Reliable, well-organized
  • Understanding of, and the ability to demonstrate the principles of confidentiality

terms of employment

  • Rate of pay: $16.43 / hour (including 6% vacation pay).
  • This position falls under the provisions of Student Employees in the Part-time Support Staff Collective Agreement and is subject to union dues.
  • The student must be currently enrolled at St. Lawrence College.
  • This position is funded via the School of Applied Science and Computing.
