DESI 281

This course enhances students’ knowledge and skills of typography in relation to the field of Graphic Design through the completion of a number of investigative projects at an intermediate level, which gradually increase in scope and complexity. Through development of projects in various media students learn how typographic principles of accessibility, hierarchy, grids and organizational structure can be manipulated to meet different audience needs and project objectives. The course emphasizes the development of intermediate-level strategic documents such as project briefs and rationales as the basis to inform design decisions. Course content is delivered using a lecture/activity/ discussion format, and students participate in critiques, both in-class and online.
