2015-11-30, 1:55 PM

St. Lawrence College Business Marketing students won silver and bronze awards at the 2015 Canadian Marketing Association Awards Gala held at the Westin Habour Castle in Toronto, November 27, 2015. These are the top awards as there is no gold awarded in this category.

The annual CMA Awards Gala is the largest and most prestigious marketing event in Canada, featuring more than 1,500 advertising and marketing professionals being honoured for the top marketing awards in the country.

"Our students competed on a national level against both colleges and universities across the country and brought home the top hardware! I am very proud of their hard work, perseverance and dedication, it really paid off. Both teams submitted solid plans with both creative approaches, as well as realistic and measureable outcomes," said Kathleen Wright, Business professor at St. Lawrence College.

This year’s case was focused on developing a Marketing Communication strategy for The Source, Consumer Electronics. Acting in the role of the Marketing Manager, students were responsible for identifying key opportunities that communicate and target women and younger shoppers – establishing brand awareness to increase purchase consideration and traffic to the retail and online environments.

Each case focused on developing an integrated approach to hit key performance indicators that included driving incremental sales, increasing in-store and online sales transactions, obtaining email subscribers and growing the social community. The teams utilized several marketing strategies and tactics including online advertising, direct response mail/email, social media and sales promotions.
