New exhibition is a powerful visual experience


 St. Lawrence College is pleased to present Celebration of Life, an exhibition featuring the work of artist Anna Krak-Kepka. Her work will be on view at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery on the Brockville campus from January 12 to February 14, 2011.

This contemporary painting and mixed media series features the latest work of Anna Krak-Kepka. Anna's work is rooted in observation and life experiences, but also expands to include memories, dreams and fantasies. Her intention is to explore ways in which happiness is chosen by developing the capacity to be fully present in each moment and appreciate the beauty of everyday life. Love of humanity, appreciation of nature and honesty are the basis of her art. Anna's work will provide visitors to the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery with a powerful visual experience.

About the Artist

Anna Krak is a full-time Visual Artist and Art Educator. She is primarily known for her unique and rare talent with color. Her paintings are full of the enchantment of the world of dream and magic.
Anna grew up in an open minded, intellectual family. Since her early years she was introduced to the artistic heritage of other countries, which instilled in her an interest in and love for arts. Initially Anna studied at the Faculty of Interior Design and later she decided to study painting. In 1987 Anna received her Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. After graduation she continued her artistic education in Rome, Italy. She also completed studies in Pedagogic Profile and Computer Graphic Design at University of Toronto.
Her art is a biographical exploration of her life. Extensive travel to Europe, Mexico and California are among the bedrock influences in her artistic life. However, she is especially captivated by Canadian nature, landscape scenery and heritage.
Anna Krak is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Her works can be found in Art Galleries, private art collections and Public Places in Canada, USA, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Poland, Hungary and Holland. In addition to her work in the field of fine arts and art education, Anna runs a decorative arts studio "Interior Creative Environment" which was established in 1996 in Toronto. Presently she runs an affiliate in Brockville doing Wall Décor Murals, Faux Finishes and Custom Hand Painting.

About the Art Gallery
The Marianne van Silfhout Gallery is a state-of-the-art community art gallery located at the front atrium of the Brockville campus of St. Lawrence College and is a focus for the visual arts for Brockville and the larger Eastern Ontario area. Creation of the gallery was made possible by the generous bequest from the Estate of Marianne van Silfhout, a graduate of the Fine Art program at St. Lawrence College, and other contributors to the St. Lawrence Foundation.
