The incumbent is responsible for the provision of technical service, support, and maintenance for networked and standalone computers, laptops, tablets, printers, media equipment, mobile devices including smartphones and other computer related peripheral devices (e.g., scanners, digital input devices etc.) and LAN & Wi-Fi based services. The incumbent will also be responsible for the support of computer labs, classrooms, office equipment and mobile technology to students, faculty, staff and campus guests where applicable.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Engineering technology program or equivalent that provides significant emphasis on both computer hardware and computer software. A+ Certification, ITIL foundation, Vendor certifications are required.

A minimum of 3 current years of experience working with digital and analog concepts & PC architecture/systems integration and media devices in a large infrastructure environment.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with the maintenance, troubleshooting and support of computing/networking systems and educational media (AV) equipment, computers, printers, hardware/software, and related peripheral devices.
  • Sound knowledge of multimedia classrooms, portable multimedia, videoconferencing, web conferencing and related AV equipment.
  • Reliable analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent monitoring, planning, prioritizing and scheduling skills to implement and coordinate preventative maintenance, testing routines, installation of new equipment, etc.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Mechanical ability to work with various tools and equipment status indicators, handle new equipment installation, IT premise cabling, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of IT standards and best practices, College policies/procedures.
  • Ability to provide guidance and advice to end users including orientation and demonstration of proper techniques for operation and use.
  • Accurate inventory and record-keeping.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and liaison skills.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

Valid ‘G’ driver’s license required for travel to Brockville and Cornwall campuses. Frequent walking, transporting light equipment, pushing/pulling carts, and climbing ladders. Crouching and working in awkward positions may be required when repairing/installing equipment, moving cabling, etc.  Some lifting of AV/computer equipment and furniture (5 – 20 kg) required with occasional heavy lifting (over 20 kg).
