This year, Open House is a morning offering many small, 60-minute live events that take place Saturday, November 20 on Zoom between 8:30am and 11:30am. With Open House this weekend, we’re sharing some event highlights that engaged Open House attendees last spring:
- What brought someone to SLC. Faculty and staff shared a bit about their educational and professional journey leading to the College. Professors shared their passion for teaching, research, and lifelong learning.
- Connecting with current students and alumni. Prospective students heard program highlights and how services aid in success directly from students currently in the program or who graduated and are working in the field. Having current international students share their experiences was especially engaging in events for programs that typically have high international student enrollment.
- Hearing about the student experience outside the classroom. Faculty, current students, and alumni shared insight into the student experience beyond the classroom and labs, such as placements, articulation agreements, and other unique opportunities.
- Engaging visuals. During the fireside chats, faculty used images that gave prospective students a view into how they’ll learn in certain programs. Unable to welcome attendees onto campus, engaging visuals showed learning spaces and labs, equipment, student projects, which helped prompt questions and conversation from attendees.
