Emancipation Day – Acknowledging Canada’s History of Slavery
Emancipation Day is an important day to reflect, educate yourself, and engage in the ongoing fight against anti-Black racism and discrimination in all its forms. Take time to learn about the history of enslavement in Canada. Join local community events to participate in this day of reflection. If you are able the City of Kingston has a listing of events taking place throughout the day.
Host ESL Students for Dinner
SLC has a long-standing partnership with Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in Japan. This summer, between August 8 and 26, 2022, a group of 30 Nagoya students will visit Kingston for a short-term ESL program. The program is designed to be experiential and immersive so students can explore Canadian culture. This is also a great opportunity for you to interact with our students and engage in intercultural learning, not to mention to show our guest true Canadian hospitality.
SLC Carpentry Students Build Library Carts 
When SLC’s Cornwall campus library needed to replace their library carts, they did not have to look far. Ann Small, library coordinator, was so impressed with the projects that the General Construction Carpentry Techniques program students were working on that she decided to ask them if they would build the three carts needed.
New Indoor Agriculture Program to be Offered This Fall at SLC
St. Lawrence College will soon bring a new academic offering to the Cornwall campus thanks to a partnership with ZipGrow Inc. A Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) program will be available to students from September 12 - November 4, 2022, to help prepare individuals for employment in the agricultural technology sector as it pertains to greenhouses, and indoor farms growing food, pharmaceutical, and alternative crops.
“Together We Are...” Exhibit Opens at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery
“Together We Are...”, the new juried art exhibition opened on July 11 at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery on SLC’s Brockville campus.
