Every year, two wastes audits conducted to help determine plans to reduce, reuse, recycle or repurpose materials where possible.  Our custodial staff have stopped using plastic bags in all office waste bins and we are working with our Campus Book Store to reduce plastic waste.  Since the 2019-2020 plastic bags are no longer an options in our campus book stores.

We are committed reducing the amount of organic waste we send to landfills.  Currently, we compost our back of house cafeteria waste on our Kingston and Cornwall Campuses and all of the food waste from our culinary program is composted.

Recycling Programs

We are working with Ontario Electronic Stewardship to provide permeant E-Waste Bins on all three Campuses and we are collaborating with Green Circle Salon, and our Hairstyling and Esthetics Programs.   Green Circle Salon is a hair salon-recycling program that diverts recyclable & repurposes hair clippings, used foils, color-tubes, excess hair color, papers and plastics, glass, and spa waste, and divert them from landfills and waterway.

We are a smoke free campus, but provide cigarette butt recycling receptacles and recycling them with TerraCycle.

Our Kingston Campus is also collaborating with local charity to offer convenient donation bin for staff and student to donate old clothes or household items.
