Healthy Campus Tips for the New Year

Kick-start your wellness with these six tips from Healthy Campus SLC

  1. Mental Health: Incorporate meditation, positive affirmations, yoga, mindfulness, or practicing gratitude into your day. Use music for mental health; listening to and creating music allows your brain to think creatively. If you’re stumped on a project, try listening to some of your favourite music.
  2. Physical Health: Exercise for 30 minutes to an hour every day. Incorporate easy exercises such as walking, jogging, swimming, or hiking. Exercise is a great way to improve brain performance. Did you know that cardiovascular exercise helps create new brain cells?
  3. Emotional Health: Do one activity a day that you find relaxing and enjoyable. Getting a full night's sleep is important. If you have trouble falling asleep, try taking a hot shower which will calm the nervous system, aid in muscle relaxation, and help with respiratory symptoms.
  4. Social Wellness: Surround yourself with positive and supportive relationships and connect with friends and family. Participating in your community, joining a sport or club are excellent ways to expand your social networks.
  5. Environmental Wellness: Create an environment that cultivates happiness, relaxation, productivity, positivity, and safety.
  6. Spiritual Wellness: Spend time in nature, engage in religious/spiritual practices, set goals, and spend quiet time for yourself. Time blocking is an effective way to get tasks done in a timely manner and keep life balanced.

Our Programs:

Offers Are on Their Way Soon!

February 1 is a big day in the college system; it’s the day the first round of offers go out to applicants. In this competitive space where applicants may be receiving numerous offers, SLC’s marketing manager, Debbie Rogers and graphic design team of Vincent Perez and Tara Pelow have designed a creative and fun offer package that will ensure SLC stands out, and ideally, convert the applicant into a student.

Following an email to accepted applicants, a package will arrive in their mailbox with a fun poster that outlines important dates and next steps in getting to SLC.

“We wanted to send something to our applicants that they can engage with physically and will spark their curiosity and excitement for SLC,” Debbie said. “After an initial offer email, this poster has longevity, and acts as a tangible reminder to celebrate and accept their offer to SLC. It will also help both the new student and parent to keep track of key dates and deadlines.”

Spring Open House is Saturday, April 4, 2020, inviting applicants to visit campus and connect directly with faculty for specific program sessions, and for those who are undecided, another chance to ask questions and hopefully, seal the deal to accept their offer to SLC.

Applicants must confirm their offers by May 1, 2020.
