All applicants to the Music Theatre - Performance program must successfully audition to be considered for admission into the program.

After you have applied for the Music Theatre - Performance program (B1012) at, take the next steps to audition.

Get ready for your audition in 3 easy steps:

1. Send your completed Audition Form and headshot to the College and pay your $50.00 audition fee online.

  • Pay the audition fee online through your student portal The cost of the audition is $50.00 PREPAID. The charge will be added to your St. Lawrence College account on and you must pay online by credit card or debit by the Thursday before your audition date. If payment isn't received by this deadline, you will be removed from the audition list and will need to register for another audition date.

2. Register for your audition with Janet Venn-Jackson.

  • Contact Janet Venn-Jackson, Music Theatre - Peformance Program Coordinator, at to register for an audition. Audition dates and locations are listed below.
  • We accept electronic audition submissions between February 1 and August 15, for those who can't make it to an audition in person. More information below.
  • Audition times for singing and monologues will be scheduled only when the audition fee is paid in full. You will be directly notified of the time by Janet Venn-Jackson.

3. Prepare for your in-person audition.

  • Be prepared to sing two songs; one ballad and one up tempo. Choose something that is appropriate to your character, personality type, and age. Bring your sheet music with you. An accompanist will be provided. Please do not bring a CD, tape, or instrument.
  • Prepare a 1 ½ minute monologue of your choice. The monologue should be from a contemporary play that is age appropriate and not longer than a minute and a half.
  • Your audition will include one short dance combination in a group that will be taught to you at the beginning of your audition by our choreographer. Be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Please note that a short musical theory assessment will be administered as part of the audition process.

Electronic Audition Submissions

We accept electronic submissions for those who can't make it to an audition in person. Please note there is a $50.00 fee for electronic submissions, payable by credit card only. Submissions are accepted from February 1 to August 15, provided the application is fully completed and the fee paid.

  • Send us a YouTube video submission that includes all required audition elements as detailed on the Audition Form.
  • In your YouTube video, ensure you present a classical plié, a classical tendu, a single or double pirouette right and left side, a time step and a one-minute dance combination of the musical theatre genre.
