This forty-five (45) hour theory course is designed to provide an overview of human growth and development through the lifespan, from conception to death. The student is introduced to recent research, major theories and concepts of human growth and development. This basic knowledge of developmental psychology is applied to the care and support functions of the Personal Support Workers. The factors that influence physical, psychological, cognitive and emotional development of the individual from conception to death are examined within the context of health promotion and the role of the Personal Support Worker. This course is relevant for anyone interested in acquiring a better understanding and appreciation of the changing needs of people and the factors that influence these changes. It may be relevant for any students who wish to pursue careers working with individuals of all ages and their families. Pre-requisite: tba
