In this course, students explore foundational business knowledge and skills in the context of the self-employed Canadian musical theatre performer.

Important arts institutions and practices in the Canadian musical theatre industry and the agreements, roles, responsibilities and function of both ACTRA and EQUITY are discussed

Through research, discussion and systematic assessment of their written assignments and group work, students have the opportunity to improve their ability to apply key business concepts (such as the agent/client relationship, basic tax and financial planning for the self employed artist) necessary for entry into the Canadian musical theatre industry.
