This course is designed to provide a deeper approach to D.C. and A.C. circuit operation and analysis. Complex impedances calculations; three phase A.C. supply and distribution; passive circuit behaviour with more complex voltage sources; grounding and noise reduction problems; etc. will be studied.

The course will also investigate electronic devices used for solid state power control (SCRs, SCSs, Diacs, Triacs etc.). The remainder of the course will investigate how these devices are used as solid state switching devices for final element control and in power supplies, inverters, and motor speed control products. Emphasis will be on providing the necessary back ground to specify, troubleshoot, and maintain commercially available units.
