HIMA 1100

This course is designed to introduce health information management students to the basics of statistical applications for health information management. These will include: commonly used frequency measures, i.e. ratios, proportions and rates; graphic display of data, i.e. tables, charts and diagrams; measures of central tendency, i.e. mode, median and mean; hypothesis testing. The course will be taught with a focus on the use of health data and information for statistical reports. This course will provide HIM students with the fundamental skills that will provide the foundation for other applications and future instruction in the methodologies of epidemiology, decision support and research.
