In Comm 39, the emphasis will be on practical business communication skills including research, organization, logic, composition, and speaking skills. Skills will be developed through a variety of reading, writing and oral presentation activities. The course will also have a small career segment and will teach students how to organize, run and participate effectively in meetings.

Students in the course will develop a short business-oriented research proposal requiring the students to select and narrow down an appropriate topic, identify and respond to the needs of a target audience, develop research skills, assess and correctly incorporate research, and document research in-text using prescribed APA documentation guidelines. Students will also learn to gather, summarize and/or paraphrase information as required.
