CIVL 65

Pre-Requisites:  CIVL 12 - Surveying

This course provides the student with a working knowledge of principal surveying instruments and accessories (levels, transits, theodolites, tape, chain pins, plumb bob, level rods, sighting rod, field books), and their uses.  A number of short field exercises are conducted which, in practice, are part of extended surveys.  Students are required to safely perform the various duties involved in team-based fieldwork. Detailed surveying calculations are performed as part of the field exercises.  Data collected in the field is used to prepare drawings using AutoCAD and complete quantity calculations and verification of data using Microsoft Excel.
