CHEM 253

This is a laboratory-lecture integrated course which covers the biological chemistry, structure, and function of the major constituents of cells including proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids.  The relationships between these molecules and their metabolic pathways will be examined.   The technical foci of this course include the manipulation of cellular enzymes as well as the purification, qualification and quantification of proteins and how they apply to biotechnological applications. 

Prerequisite: BIOL 155
