CCJS 105

Selected Populations 1 provides students with an opportunity to develop their understanding of the intra-personal issues that complicate the behaviour, cognitive functioning, and emotional distress of clients served by community and justice agencies. While the emphasis will be on exploring the distinction between mental health and mental illness, other significant issues including an understanding of HIV/Aids, learning disabilities, and the impact of marginalization on individuals will be examined. Selected Populations 1 will blend theory with practical applications, developing the skill set for the role of the helper in supporting identified clients.
