BLAW 1001

An introduction to the basic principles and structure of Ontario's legal and court systems, followed by a survey of the main principles of law in selected major areas not explicitly covered in other courses of the program. The latter includes, from the commercial field, the principles relating to contracts as well as a summary of the law of torts (civil wrong) which serves as the basis of many damage lawsuits in our courts. A survey course designed to serve as an introduction to law and legal thinking.
