BIOL 250

This is a laboratory-lecture integrated course where the student will learn to apply regulatory standard protocols to analyze food and pharmaceutical products for microbes and their metabolic products, to preserve foods using chemical and physical processes, and to perform antimicrobial susceptibility tests to meet industry and governmental guidelines.  This course is divided into two overlapping themes:  1) Food Microbiology and 2) Pharmaceutical Microbiology where students will learn and apply governmental and industry standards of quality assurance, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality control.

Prerequisite: BIOL153; LABS250             Corequisite: CHEM252
