Theatre Arts Experience
We are pleased to offer this summer music-theatre program at St. Lawrence College. Utilizing the College’s wonderful facilities, this intensive two week program will cover singing, acting, and dance, as well as solo and ensemble work. Students will gain an appreciation for the industry of theatre and the arts. At the end of the two weeks, students will have an opportunity to showcase their work and talents in a mini-review show for parents and friends. The students will have the benefit of instruction from three talented students currently enrolled in the college’s Music Theatre – Performance Program.

Esthetics Salon Experiences – Makeup, Manicures, Nail Art
Have fun with your friends, and share the skills you will experience. Learn the beauty secrets of the stars and make your own facial masks and scrubs. Using professional product, you will be taught makeup and manicure techniques, and try out your artistic skills on nail art. This course will be taught by fulltime instructors in the Esthetics program. Classes are held in our “Transitions Training Salon.”

Colour Your World With Art – Ages 8-12
Have fun with your friends and explore the many media used in the art world. You will create several masterpieces throughout the week, that you will be proud to take home, to frame and to decorate your personal space. We will check out chalk pastels, acrylic paint, graphite powder, to name a few. Your instructor will make the morning exciting and interactive as you discover your artistic potential. An additional $20.00 fee will cover all materials, payable on the first day of class.

Computer Camp
This course is designed to provide kids with the skills to build on their knowledge of computers and software. You will explore the PC and windows, and use the internet to copy text and images. You will develop your own website and complete a PowerPoint slide show. Students will incorporate text, graphics, narration and animation into a presentation, and on the last day present your show. We will also touch on the world of programming and games development. Instructor: TBA

Pottery Hand Building Workshop
This class will focus on learning the basic construction of hand building pottery forms. Students will make pinch pots, coil pots, slabs, and moulds. The student will make the forms and then use the various surface decorations (sgrafitto, glazing, slip covers) to enhance the piece and reflect their own personal style. A supply fee of $15.00, for clay, is payable to the instructor the first day of class.

Found Objects as Art
This mixed-media course is designed for students who like to get messy while learning a bit of art history at the same time. Students will use recyclable material and found objects to create their own version of Pablo Picasso’s “Three Musicians”. Students are asked to bring a big box of recyclable material and found objects such as aluminum cans, books, magazines, newspaper, CDs, tapes, records, clothing, corrugated cardboard, wood scraps, etc. to the first class. A $15 material fee will be collected by the instructor at the first class.

Digital Photography for Beginners (Ages 9-17)
This course will introduce students to the basic aspects of digital photography. Students will develop an understanding of how colour, shapes, lighting, and framing a photo all contribute to make a great shot. Students will develop their skills in photography to make picture taking more successful and enjoyable. Students will be given projects during the class. They will shoot photos of abstract shapes, scenic, still life, portraiture, and architectural images inside and outside of the school. Students must bring their own digital cameras and understand the basic functions. They must also bring their camera manuals, memory cards and USB plug ins. Camera batteries must be fully charged for each class.

Fun with Hair
Learn stylist’s secrets for creating trendy styles and simple updo’s. This course is being taught by our full-time instructors. Located in the “Transitions Training Salon”, you will experience what it is like to be a hair stylist. Professional hair care products will be provided, but bring along your blow dryer and/or curling iron. Come join us and learn the tricks of the trade. Space is limited so sign up early!

Pottery Class
In this class the child and their guardian work together to hand-build a coiled pot. Using a model as the basic form the team will successfully make a unique piec of art which showcases both artists input and talent. This class will consist of two lessons of three hours duration. A supply fee of $10.00, for clay, is payable to the instructor the first day of class.
