Henry Vyfvinkel has walked both sides of the St. Lawrence College corridors. As a student he successfully completed the Fine Arts Certificate Program, as well as the Teacher of Adults Program. Henry has combined these two accomplishments; until age 60 he was the Creative Arts Coordinator on the Brockville Campus. Henry always finds time in his busy schedule to instruct at the 1000 Islands Summer School of the Arts. This is not surprising, as he was, after all, the creator of the program back in 1972. Henry has received numerous awards, and his works are in various collections throughout North America. In 1990, Henry was elected as a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Those who have had the privilege to study with Henry come away with a fresh approach to painting, and a clearer understanding of what their style is, or should be. He is as much a part of the Fine Art Program on the Brockville Campus as the easels in the art room.
About the Artist...
Louise (Lou) Charton is an award-winning artist. She worked as a commercial artist in Montreal, and gained invaluable experience organizing art workshops, by top North American Artists, in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. Although busy painting commissions in her home studio, Lou has found time to teach watercolour portraiture in both Canada and the United States. She is an instructor at St. Lawrence College, both in the Part time and Summer Arts Programs. Lou is a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Thousand Islands Fine Arts Association, Visual Arts of Gananoque Association, and a Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society. She paints in watercolour, acrylic and oil, although watercolour is her first love. Lou teaches portraiture and landscape. Her paintings and portrait commissions hang in private and corporate collections throughout Canada, USA, and Europe.
