Mike Svob has been a full time artist since 1982. This

included mastering watercolours, acrylics and oils.
Mike is an impressionist that is easily identified by
his signature use of strong bold colour. To date Mike

Designing With Acrylic: Course
June 28 – July 2 (including the July 1 Holiday)
This workshop will focus on the foundation of good
design and will be followed by the application (or
technique) using acrylic. Each day will emphasize
a different problem-solving painting approach.
The demonstrations will emphasize the underlying
concepts. The participants will then be given a chance
to apply these ideas and methods in their own work.

individual basis. A supply list will be provided prior
to the start of classes.

Farewell Henry!!
The St. Lawrence College
Summer School of the Arts had
very humble beginnings. One
day in 1972, I had the pleasure
of taking a group of St. Lawrence
College students out for a
day of painting to Picnic Island
(Stoven Island). Somehow this
outing became an activity that
lead to the creation of the now well-known Summer
School of the Arts. All of my first courses took
place on location, in the islands, with my dream of
following in the footsteps of the Group of Seven,
doing the real Canadian thing. Expansion of the
program saw use of college facilities to offer
courses on campus.
It has been a joyful journey and I have loved
every minute of it! Now, in my 75th year, I would
like to do one more get-together with students old
and new to offer one last Summer School of the
Arts course. This will be my farewell!
