July 27, 28, 29: Drawing and Painting Local Barns
(A Three-Day Indoor Watercolour Course for Beginners and Intermediates) Rural Ontario’s barns are slowly disappearing! While they are often no longer viable as useful buildings, they remain enchanting to artists. Barns are easy to draw and paint so they are not only an engaging artistic subject, but they also talk of a kinder, gentler age. We will feature two beautiful, colourful barns from the Cornwall area. Barns have characteristics and we must catch these in our paintings. In addition, we will tackle the artistic problems of perspective, composition, colour mixing and essential contrasts. Alan uses a step by step demonstration technique which leads the artist through each painting. Each of our barns will be backed up with sketches, drawings and photographs.
