Records and Information Management Certificate

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
All types of businesses and organizations have a need for records and information management. For example, all three levels of government – municipal, provincial and federal – need the services of an information specialist, as do insurance companies, banks, retail organizations, manufacturing companies and law firms. Career opportunities are most prevalent in medium to large companies.

This program is designed to prepare participants to operate a records management program in any organizational setting. With the increasing production of and demand for complex information and the widespread use of automated technologies, businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies are striving to manage their information assets in an effective and efficient way. Records and information management programs contribute to the efficiency of an organization’s operations by providing systematic control of information resources, from creation through use, storage and final disposition.

Students are required to take all six courses listed in the Program of Study in order to graduate; all are available through distance education.
