Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have credits from a University; can I use them?
A: Send transcript and course outline to be assessed. If you are currently registered an assessment will be made and credit granted where appropriate. If you have not yet registered no credit transfer can be made but recommendations will be given.
Q: I have worked/volunteered in the early childhood education field
for a number of years; can I be exempt from anything?
A: Depending upon your experience you could be eligible for PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition). For information on the process and costs contact Angie Covey x 3503 at on the Brockville Campus.
Q: How long will it take me to do this program?
A: The average time to complete the Diploma is 3 years. It can be completed full time in as little as 18 months or part time over a longer period. The number of credit transfers and PLAR credits also determines the length of time required.
Q: What materials and support do I get?
A: textbook is required to be purchased for most courses. Students receive an ID password to access WebCT.
Q: How does the scheduling of assignments work?
A: Each online courses has a schedule of due dates. Assignments must be handed in according to the due dates. In extenuating circumstances students must notify the instructor to amend the schedule. A Doctors note may be requested.
Q: How do I submit the assignments?
A: The assignments should be word processed and submitted by email.
Q: How do I write the test/exam?
A: Exams or tests are open book. No proctor is required.
Q: What if I start a course and can't finish?
A: You have 15 days to return the materials and withdraw with a partial refund. The final date you can withdraw without the academic penalty is in your course materials for each semester. After these dates you will receive an automatic "F" in the course which will be on your transcripts.
Q: What happens if I don't finish my course according to the schedule?
A: If all assignments, projects, test/exam are not completed according to the schedule you will receive an automatic "F" grade. You may re-register for the course. The new course grade will also show on your transcript.
