Entrance Requirements
Must submit a photocopy of your current Certificate of Competency/Registration from College of Nurses or equivalent from other provinces / territories. A current and up to date Immunization record is mandatory.
Program Structure
There are five (5) theory courses (255 hours) One (1) clinical placement
component (150/300 hours based on student’s date of graduation)
Placement is arranged on an individual basis within your community.
A Certificate will be issued following successful completion
of the program.
Program Location
This is an individual studies program offered by correspondence in a supportive
learning environment.
Fees include course manual, books, shipping (in Ontario)
and HST. NOTE: No refunds on books or manuals.

This course addresses the legal, ethical, and professional issues involved
in community and institutionally-based nursing practice. Relevant legislation

of Practice as set by the Provincial/Territorial Associations will be
discussed. Basic concepts of Nursing research, management, and leadership
will be examined.

Focus is on utilizing the nursing process to guide nursing decisions involving
administration of medications in order to ensure client safety and the
adherence to legal standards. Classifications, indications for use, mechanisms
of action, expected effects, adverse effects and nursing implications
will be discussed.

This course will review the nursing process and its application to current
theory-based practice. The focus will be on various health problems seen
in the medical-surgical nursing of adults as well as promotion of health.
