St. Lawrence College Esthetician and Hairstyling students win gold and silver medals

2017-05-09

St. Lawrence College is thrilled to announce the accomplishments of our Esthetician and Hairstyling students at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Toronto on May 1, 2017. Esthetician students Stephanie-Rachel Kuepfer and Shannon Marginson finished with gold and silver medals respectively, and Hairstyling student Amanda Hamilton won silver.

Stephanie-Rachel, Shannon, and Amanda competed at the Toronto Congress Centre with 20,000 spectators. They competed in the following services: advanced facials, manicure with nail art, body treatment, and make up. Hairstyling students competed in Men’s technical cut, Women’s elegant evening long hair, and Women’s trend cut.

“The Ontario skills competition has been such a fulfilling experience that has taught me important skills and lessons to help me with my career in esthetics. Before applying to this program, I admired the previous Skills Competition winners on the program’s website, and that is what drew me to this successful program. I thank my teachers for coaching and preparing me for this competition. Their incredible skills and knowledge reflect on their students as we strive and show pride in all we do,” said gold medalist Stephanie-Rachel Kuepfer.

This marks the ninth year in a row that the St. Lawrence College’s Esthetician students have won the provincial competition. The next step for the gold medalist Stephanie-Rachel will be to compete in the National Skills Competition in Winnipeg, MB from May 31 to June 3, 2017.
