Gold medal win continues nine-year streak for SLC

St. Lawrence College Esthetician student, Stephanie-Rachel Kuepfer, won the gold medal at the National Skills Competition in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 1-2, 2017.

Stephanie competed with seven other students from across Canada in advanced facial with ultrasonic, manicure with nail art, evening and fantasy make up, and body treatments including Swedish massage and leg waxing.

“Winning the gold medal at the provincial skills competition was an amazing experience, however winning the gold at the national level is beyond amazing,” Kuepfer said. “The Esthetics program at St. Lawrence College is truly the best, it prepares you for the field equipped with all the skills that you need and teaches you so much more than esthetics. I feel more than ready to start my career.”

Stephanie’s gold medal is the latest in a long streak of wins at provincial and national skills competitions for students in SLC’s Esthetician program. For the last nine years they have won the gold medal at the provincial level; at the national level they have won six gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

St. Lawrence College offers an Ontario College Diploma in Esthetician in a condensed 40-week program.  The college’s in-house training salon, Dynamic Designs, provides opportunities for students to practice their skills with clients from the community.
