SLC student crowned Marketing Student of the Year

With competition from college and university students from across Canada, including the University of Toronto, The Canadian Association of Marketing Professionals has awarded SLC’s William Etherington its inaugural Marketing Student of the Year.

Etherington, a second year Business Administration Marketing student, credits his professors at SLC for inspiring and supporting students to compete in various competitions. “Competing gives students the opportunity to benchmark themselves against other students, and also the motivation to continue improving their skillset,” he said. "It’s a real honour to be chosen as CAMP's Student Marketer of the Year. I am very proud to be in the top five finalists with my classmate Shaylin Radford. To have two St. Lawrence college students competing with universities and colleges across Canada was a great opportunity.”

The award recognizes excellence in marketing at the student level and includes a $1,500 scholarship. The Marketing Student of the Year Award will award one full time undergraduate enrolled in a marketing or marketing related program at the university or college level.

“We’re committed to building passion and engagement among marketers, and that starts with students. Our first ever Marketing Student of the Year Award recognized excellence not only academically, but in the field of marketing. We’re very pleased with all of the applicants, and want to congratulate William for his exceptional work in the field. He’s clearly a future marketing leader,” said Nadine Evans, CEO, Canadian Association of Marketing Professionals

To win the Marketing Student of the Year, students must demonstrate Passion, Commitment, and Academic Excellence in the field of marketing. In order to compete, students had to submit an application including: personal details, school and program information; resume; transcript; and a 500 word essay describing your passion for marketing.
