2015-05-08, 3:03 PM

After winning the gold medal at the Provincial Skills Competition on May 4 in Waterloo, ON, Gold medal winner Macaila Mcleod will compete at the national level on May 28 and 29 in Saskatoon. As well, Heaven Carbonell won the silver medal. The students competed in the areas of advanced facial, body treatment and massage, makeup and manicure with art design.

In the past five years, students from St. Lawrence College have consistently stepped up to the podium to win Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. Last year, our student Kaitlyn Hoiles won Gold at the Nationals and will be competing at the international level in Brazil, this August.

“In the Esthetician program at St. Lawrence College you not only learn the fundamentals of Esthetic services, but you also learn Medical Esthetics,” said Macaila Mcleod. “The program focuses on team building skills, time management skills, and professionalism. The professors are passionate and are eager to teach. I couldn't imagine taking an Esthetician course anywhere else!”

“In the St. Lawrence College Esthetician program, you not only learn how to paint nails and do facials, you learn how to work as team, grow into a better version of yourself, as well as pursue your ultimate goals and dreams,” said silver medal winner, Heaven Carbonnell. “This has been the most challenging yet rewarding ten months that I'll ever push myself through, and nowhere else I’d rather be to experience this chapter of my life.”
