Dual Credit program at St. Lawrence College celebrates 10 years of furthering education

2015-04-07, 11:12 AM

St. Lawrence College is pleased to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Partnering to Achieve Student Success (PASS) Dual Credit program.

The PASS program is an opportunity for Grade 12 students to experience SLC programs, develop skills, and make better informed post-secondary and career decisions, while at the same time earning a high school AND college credit. The PASS Dual Credit program has grown exponentially, from just 13 students and one program in 2005, to more than 700 students and 28 programs at our three campuses in Brockville, Cornwall, and Kingston.

Over the past 10 years, close to 4000 area high school students have been enrolled in a St. Lawrence College Dual Credit program, according to former PASS coordinator, Pat Garrod. “As they complete their courses, we have seen them grow in self-confidence and self-esteem having gained valuable skills and a better sense of direction for their post-secondary pathway. PASS means Partnering to Achieve Student Success, and that is exactly what is happening!"

The celebration takes place on April 9, 2015 and will include presentations by Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO of St. Lawrence College, Pat Garrod, former PASS coordinator, Deb Ford and Mike Moher from Ministry of Education, as well as former PASS students.
