Finding your career pathway just got easier with the launch of our new online career coaching tool, Career Coach. Career Coach is designed to meet the specific needs of any user, from helping new students choose an appropriate program, or graduates in retraining to increase their skill set, or launch a new career. To see Career Coach in action, go to

St. Lawrence College is well-known for its excellence in training and education for students’ chosen careers. In fact, SLC has been among the top three colleges in Ontario for the last five years for graduate employment rate; in 2014, we were well ahead of the provincial average of 80.1 per cent, with 88.2 per cent of our graduates finding work within six months of graduating.

Career Coach, designed by EMSI Company, provides the most current data on wages, employment, in demand jobs, and associated educational opportunities. In other words, anyone using Career Coach can research a wide variety of careers and compare their salary ranges as they apply in each geographical region. Once a potential career is identified, users can then research to find a St. Lawrence College program that provides preparation for that particular field. For those who are unsure about a suitable career, Career Coach offers a questionnaire that assists in focusing on a career consistent with a person’s abilities and interests. Career Coach also offers a Resume Builder.

Career Coach can do all of this because it gathers information from a variety of sources, such as the Canadian Labour Forum and Statistics Canada. As an example of the scope of the available data, Statistics Canada’s NOS-S classification system offers 305 industry classifications covering 522 locations in over 4,300 different integrated geographical areas, and that is just one source. The good news is that Career Coach allows users to collect and use the data any way that best meets their needs. We encourage you to explore this amazing resource today.

Career Coach is another tool that helps our students know about the careers opportunities of the future and how to prepare for them,” said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO of St. Lawrence College. “We’re committed to developing career ready graduates and this tool will prove to be invaluable for prospective students, current students, and our alumni.”
