Legally Blonde the Musical with SLC Music Theatre Performance hits the Brockville Arts Centre stage

St. Lawrence College’s Music Theatre –Performance program is pleased to present Legally Blonde the Musical on Thursday, April 16th, Friday April 17 and Saturday April 18 at the Brockville Arts Centre. This irresistibly entertaining musical will have audiences smiling for days.

Legally Blonde is the story of a sorority-sister “valley girl” who goes to Harvard Law School to get her boyfriend back. She ends up beating the odds and overturning all expectations while staying true to herself and her ideals. The musical is based on a novel written by Amanda Brown that won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in its’ London’s West End run.

The captivating story is heightened by the energetic songs and electrifying dance routines. Featured songs include: “What You Want”, “So Much Better”, “Bend and Snap” and “Legally Blonde” and showcases the vocal and dance talents of the Music Theatre-Performance students.

“Legally Blonde has been such a wonderful experience! We are so fortunate to be able to work with such a great group of people from our backstage crew to the creative team and our band.  Elle is an amazing character to play. She's fun and girly sure, but she's so much more. She's kind, intelligent, and driven. She is such a strong female character, just wrapped in a pink fluffy exterior,” exclaims Catarina Ciccone, who portrays the loveable Elle Woods. “We are so blessed to be guided by industry professionals Chad McNamara (director/choreographer) and Patrick Burwell (music director). Their support, direction, and guidance are second to none. It's amazing to know that you are working with such seasoned professionals and definitely helps us strive to raise the bar.”

Eric McDace who embodies Emmett adds “Legally Blonde has been a wonderful learning experience. Through Legally Blonde I've been able to refine my rehearsal process to better prepare myself for the professional world of theatre. As we near the end I am excited to see the hard work of my peers and I pay off in what'll surely be the most high energy show I've had the opportunity to be a part of.”

You may have seen the movie, now experience the musical and be charmed by the talented cast.
