Your Conduct on Social Media-Important Message from President Glenn Vollebregt

2014-11-07

It has come to our attention that some of our students have been engaged in a conversation on social media that is not positive and is damaging to the individuals, their reputation, as well as the College.

St. Lawrence College is not associated in any way with the Spotted at SLC Kingston Facebook social media site and we are deeply disturbed by the nature of many of the comments that exist on this site.

We would like to remind all of our students that there is a strict code of conduct at St. Lawrence College. Any student that engages in any acts of harassment, discrimination, and/or bullying will face the consequences that are outlined in this policy

I do not believe that this current incident is a true reflection of our College's culture.  Engagement by anyone on this site is discouraged and I ask you to consider the serious repercussions of making comments on any social media, or in any scenario, that could be harassing, discriminatory, or bullying. We stand beside our Student Association who also encourages everyone to consider this very seriously. An internal and external investigation has begun as a result of this incident. If you need to speak with a member of our counselling team please connect with them on campus at ext. 1593 or consider our 24/7 Good 2 Talk services tel:1-866-925-5454.
