St. Lawrence College Music Theatre – Performance students present Once Upon a Grimm

There are fish in the sea, birds in the sky, witches and magic… oh me, oh my! The Puddle Jump Players are back for their second show. “Once Upon a Grimm” tells the fairytales from the Brothers Grimm stories that are filled with action, memorable songs and funny moments that kids as well adults will enjoy. There are famous tales including “Cinderella” and “Rapunzel” and lesser known tales such as “The Brave Little Tailor” and “The Fisherman and his Wife” all woven together for a fantastic show for audiences of all ages.

The Puddle Jump Players is a touring children’s theatre troupe that became a collaborative student project in the Music Theatre – Performance program. Under the supervision and guidance of Brian Frommer, the graduating students have conceived, created and developed this original musical show designed to bring the magic of theatre to young audiences in Eastern Ontario.

Working collaboratively on “Once Upon a Grimm” is an excellent experience as actors portraying fairytale characters and putting a show together including writing, choreography, costumes/makeup, props, marketing, music and lyrics. Bohdan Onushko is one of the students in the show but he has also been working hard with The Puddle Jump Players as Production Manager: “It’s a big job because you do everything. You see where you’re needed most, help out to make sure things are running smoothly as they can and overseeing deadlines.” You can see Bohdan portraying many roles in “Once Upon a Grimm” such as Cinderella’s Prince, a Guard and a Giant.

The magical tour began October 27th with performances at several elementary schools and ends with a special public performance at the St. Lawrence College Brockville campus in the Student Lounge on Saturday November 1st at 1:00 pm.  A world of adventure is waiting!

Once Upon a Grimm was adapted by the third year students. Music and lyrics were created by many of the students in this talented graduating class of 2015. Special thanks to the leader and director; Brian Frommer who has been with The Puddle Jump Players every step of the way to ensure the show is fantastic.

Ticket prices for the November 1st performance are $10 for adults and $5 for children. A special Family Pack rate of $20 is available. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Thank you to 2014/2015 St. Lawrence College Stage Season sponsor 1000 Islands Community Development Corporation, show sponsors The St. Lawrence College Foundation and Friends of the Music Theatre – Performance Program.
