St. Lawrence College Brockville campus to graduate 427 students

BROCKVILLE, ON – Students graduating from St. Lawrence College’s Brockville campus will don regalia for Convocation on Friday, May 31, 2013. Two ceremonies will be held at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm at the Centennial Road Church in Lyn.


The 10:00 am ceremony will be held for students graduating from programs in the Schools of Business, Community Services, Justice Studies and Applied Arts, as well as the School of Part-Time Studies - Distance Learning.  The Valedictorian for the 10:00 am ceremony is Jolene Johnson, who will graduate from the Office Administration – Medical program.


The afternoon ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm for students graduating from programs in the School of Health Sciences, Skilled Trades and Tourism, Part-Time Studies, and Corporate Learning and Performance Improvement. The Valedictorian for the afternoon ceremony is Galen Armstrong, who will graduate from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.


The morning ceremony will feature a video address from Honorary Diploma recipient, Conlin McCabe, who currently studies in Seattle, Washington. Each year, St. Lawrence College recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals or organizations whose accomplishments are of such excellence, inspiration and leadership that they serve as an example for the students and graduates of our college with our Honorary Diplomas.


Conlin is a “local hero” who was a member of the 2012 Canadian Rowing Men’s 8 team that won the silver medal in the summer Olympics in England. Conlin’s dedication and commitment to not only his sport, but to his team, his family and his community have been an inspiration locally and indeed, globally.  Born and raised in Brockville,

Conlin graduated from Brockville Collegiate Institute and earned a full scholarship to the University of Washington in Seattle where he has been recognized for his strength, hard work, and determination.
