Meet some “New Faces” as talented young performers take the stage

BROCKVILLE – Once again, the St. Lawrence College Music Theatre – Performance program is proud to present their newest group of talented young performers in New Faces 2013, an annual show featuring an extravaganza of song and dance. Please join us on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 8:00 pm for an amazing night of live entertainment.

The evening will feature the entire first year class who are eager to perform onstage at the Brockville Arts Centre. For many students, New Faces provides the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience for the first time.

"New Faces 2013 will be very special as it will feature the largest orchestra we have ever had. This year's program will include full production numbers from some of the most popular musicals ever written, including Cabaret, Footloose, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” said Christopher Coyea, music director of New Faces 2013 and professor of music in the Music Theatre – Performance program. “The orchestra is very excited to play selections from these wonderful scores and I know the students are thrilled to be working with such wonderful musicians."

New Faces 2013 will also feature dancing choreographed by Music Theatre – Performance students in addition to the program’s professor of dance and New Faces 2013 choreographer, Janet Venn-Jackson. “Due to the extensive previous training of the members of this class, we have been able to include a large variety of dance styles in the show. We also have some budding choreographers in the group who have provided some additional numbers,” explained Janet.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students and are available from the Brockville Arts Centre. Please call 613-342-7122 to purchase.

New Faces is sponsored by the 1000 Islands Community Development Corporation and the Friends of the Music Theatre – Performance Program. Media sponsors for New Faces are 104.9 JR FM and The Recorder and Times.
