2012-02-06

Taking a tailored approach to professional development, in partnership with the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), St. Lawrence College will begin to offer its popular Leadership for Managers program to administrative staff, supervisors and system support leaders. Over the next three years, a customized program will be delivered to staff to meet their unique learning needs and will include modules on Project Management, Finance for Non-Financial Managers, and Enhancing the Stakeholder Experience.

“Our Corporate Learning and Performance Improvement team has worked hard to tailor their program to meet the unique learning needs of administrators in the Limestone District School Board,” said Chris Whitaker, President and CEO of St. Lawrence College. “One of our key roles in our communities is to provide lifelong learning and we are proud to have the Limestone District School Board as a partner.”

The first module to be offered in February will be on Leadership, and includes such topics as:

-Defining and exploring core principles of leadership
-Understanding and developing effective leadership techniques
-Exploring the value-based leadership model and your personal leadership style
-Experimenting with and applying models, techniques and principles of leadership

“The Limestone District School Board is pleased to partner with St. Lawrence College to offer this dynamic and collaborative professional development opportunity,” said Brenda Hunter, Director of Education of LDSB. “Providing staff with unique opportunities to learn and grow is an important investment that will help ensure the ongoing success of staff and students.”

The modules, created by St. Lawrence College in consultation with the school board, will comprise both instructor-led presentations, discussion of key concepts, and team exercises.
