"Nunsense" kicks off new performing arts season!

2011-10-07

The St. Lawrence College Music Theatre Performance program is thrilled start the 2011-12 season with a performance of "Nunsense: The Megamusical" at the Brockville Arts Centre, with performances on October 21 and 22 at 8 pm, and a matinee on October 23 at 2 pm.

Nunsense is a musical comedy with a book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin. The original off-Broadway production opened December 12, 1985, running for 3,672 performances and becoming the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history. Nunsense is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia. Thus, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed.

Stage Direction by Matthew John Lundvall, Music Direction by Chris Coyea, and Choreography by Janet Venn-Jackson.
