Start spreading the news....SLC students heading to NYC

2011-10-03

Fourteen business students and three faculty members will be attending the World Business Forum in New York City, October 5-6, 2011. The World Business Forum brings together over 5000 business leaders to explore the trends and challenges affecting the business world. Speakers at this year's forum include Bill Clinton, Malcolm Gladwell, and Seth Godin.

The students will be exposed to leading edge thinking on the business world as well as have the opportunity to network with business professionals from around the world. "This is an incredible opportunity," said Shanika Dopwell, third year Integrated Marketing Communications student. "We'll have the opportunity to interview some of the speakers, and we'll be blogging in real time about our experiences and the speakers. It's a once in a lifetime event!"

The students will also have the opportunity to meet with Michael Loeb, CEO of Loeb Enterprises, a private equity and business development company. "We're grateful for this opportunity, which has been arranged by Nicole Williams, editor-in-chief of Works, and best selling author of Wildly Sophisticated," said John Conrad, Associate Dean of the School of Business at St. Lawrence College.

"The students attending had to apply, and were then selected from their application and references from faculty," Conrad said. "We are grateful to the Student Association, who donated $7500 toward the trip. The trip was open to all returning business students, and we have students from the following programs attending: BBA, Accounting, Marketing, HR, Advertising."
